Sonic TablesWe decided to check out Sonic, on a perfect summer night. Sonic offers two places to dine: in picnic tables out front, as shown below, or, in your car, in the traditional drive-up fashion.
Sonic CarsCars pull up into their own space. Each space has its own menu board, through which not only orders may be placed, but also, credit card payments may be made.
CaddyOur Cadillac is the popular crossover, and its a great vehicle, but for our trip to Sonic, we would have preferred something about 2000 pounds heavier, a ragtop, chrome, and of course, fins.
The MenuThe menu itself is colorful, lively, functional and well executed. Keep in mind that Sonic is, at its heart, a fast food joint. If you are looking for the premium feel of a Red Robins, you won't get it, but you will get a very good burger, and you may appreciate Sonic's straightfoward approach
On SkatesPart of the appeal of Sonic is that retro element of the server on Rollerskates. You can't get that unless you have the right people, and at Sonic, you do. We found our servers to be friendly, courteous and fast. Here one pauses for a fraction of a second before blurring off on another roller mission for food, country and the American way.
SlushieThis is a picture of a Sonic slushy. It is a fateful image, taken a mere moment before the famous spill incident. |
